The Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of South Sudan (CUofSS) is committed to the formation of competent, ethical, and socially responsible legal professionals. Rooted in Catholic social teaching and guided by academic excellence, the Faculty seeks to prepare graduates who can respond effectively to legal challenges at national, regional, and international levels.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Programme

The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree prepares well-rounded graduates capable of excelling across a wide range of legal career paths. The programme equips students with a strong foundation in legal principles, methodologies, and procedures, while fostering a deep appreciation of the values enshrined in the Constitution.

The programme develops graduates who are intellectually competent, ethically grounded, and socially accountable. Through a practice-based approach, students learn to understand and apply the law within the context of everyday life and professional legal practice. Graduates are prepared to begin careers in the legal profession and related fields with confidence, integrity, and critical insight.

Objectives of the Programme

The objectives of the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme are to:

1. Train conscientious lawyers with a sound legal and moral background, capable of conducting independent legal research and applying legal knowledge effectively to practical and complex situations.

2. Develop in students a critical and analytical legal mind essential for the formulation of legal arguments and opinions, and for providing appropriate legal solutions within the Eastern African region.

Rationale of the Programme

The Bachelor of Laws programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive legal education that produces critical, competent, and morally upright lawyers. The programme prepares graduates for careers in government, private legal practice, public and private institutions, inter-governmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

There is a growing need for legally trained professionals capable of addressing challenges at the national, regional, and international levels. This programme responds to that need by producing graduates who stand out within the Eastern African region, enriched by the holistic and values-based education offered at the Catholic University of South Sudan.
